NC Math 1: Students will continue to work on Data/statistics. Students will find correlation coefficients and lines of best fit for scatterplots. They will also be introduced to reading and interpreting a two-way table and how to determine percentages and frequencies from the table.
There will be a Test on Module 8 on Friday. Math 8: Students will continue to work on Transformations. This week classes will focus on Rotations and also review the other transformations already discussed. There will be a Unit test on Transformations on Thursday. EOG review will begin on Friday. Math 8 EOG and Math 1 EOC are both scheduled for Thursday May 31. Progress reports will go home on Monday.
NC MATH 1: This week students will continue working with standard deviation. There will be a quiz on box plots, histograms and standard deviation this week. Day will be announced in class. Students will also begin working on lines of best fit, residual values, and correlation coefficients. Math 8: This week students will work on Reflections and translations, and identifying them and the new vertices. There will be a quiz on dilations, reflections, and translations on Friday. Both the Math 1 EOC and 8th grade math EOG are currently scheduled for May 31. NC Math 1: This week classes will begin Module 8, Data and statistics. We will begin by reviewing Histograms and box plots, including vocabulary: extremes, quartiles, median, Interquartile range.
On Tuesday students will also watch a tutorial in class on the pretest EOC. Wednesday all students will take the EOC pretest online. This will be done in class and will be practice for the actual EOC in May. Math 8: Students will finish up systems of equations this week. There will be a unit test on Wednesday. Thursday classes will begin transformations of figures beginning with dilations. NC Math 1: This week there will be a Unit Test on Module 7B/Quadratic Functions. In class students will focus on application problems. They will also continue to review factoring, and how to find maximum and minimum values.
Math 8: Students will work on solving systems of equations using the substitution and elimination methods. Report Cards will be distributed in homeroom on Friday. Please sign the envelope and have students return them to their homeroom teacher.
NC Math 1: This week students will be introduced to factoring trinomials and the differences of 2 perfect squares. Students will be able to use this method to continue to help solve quadratic functions. There will be a quiz on Friday on this topic. Math 8: Students will be introduced to Unit 13, solving systems of equations through graphing. Students must be able to graph lines, find points of intersection, and determine the ordered pair of that point as the solution to the system. There will be a quiz on Friday on this topic. End of 3rd quarter is Wednesday. No School Friday Thursday is a snow Make-up day NC Math 1: This week students will continue to work on Quadratic Functions and application problems. Math 8: Students will finish working on two way data tables. There will be a review on Tuesday and Test on Wednesday on Scatter plots, lines of best fit, and two way tables. This test will be the first grade of Quarter 4. Single Subject Acceleration (SSA)
During specified nomination windows, parents or teachers can nominate students to skip a grade level of content in either English Language Arts OR Mathematics. Students may only be nominated and assessed for SSA in ONE subject area. Please select the link below: Single Subject Acceleration Form NC Math 1: This week students will continue to work on Quadratic Equations and solving application problems.
There will be a test on Quadratics, FOIL and finding maximum and minimums on Thursday. Math 8: Students will continue to analyze scatter plots and lines of Best Fit to make associations and predictions. There will be a quiz on Wednesday. NC Math 1: Students will work on finding maximums and minimums of Quadratic functions. They will be introduced to the formula X= negative b/2a. Later in the week the classes will work on operations with polynomials, including multiplying using the FOIL method, and writing equations in quadratic forms to solve.
Math 8: Students will be finishing tests on equations of lines and beginning the unit on scatter plots and how to determine the association of the data as positive, negative, or no association. There are no assessments this week. Progress reports will go home on Thursday this week for all math classes.
NC Math 1: Classes will be introducing Module 7, the Quadratic function and how to solve problems using the quadratic equation. There will be a quiz on this topic on Friday. Math 8: Classes will continue going over equations of lines and identifying slopes and y intercepts. Students will also begin to translate word problems into equations to solve. The Unit test will be on Friday. |
