NC Math 1: We will continue to work on Modules 3.5 to 3.7 and to also review functions, linear functions, and exponential functions.
Quiz # 2 on module 3 will be on Thursday. Math 8: This week students will continue to work on angle application problems and how to determine if figures are similar and how to determine sides of similar figures. There will be no assessment this week.

NC Math 1: Students will continue to work on modules 3.2 and 3.3( key characteristics of functions). There will be a quiz on Thursday. Math 8: This week students will begin unit 6 on Angles. Topics covered will be how parallel lines can be used to determine degrees of angles, the angles in a triangle, and how interior and exterior angles are related. There will be a quiz on Friday. NC Math 1: Students will continue to work on Module 3, characteristics of functions.
Math 8: Students will finish or make up test on solving equations from last week. We will review some topics this week. Early release is Tuesday. Dismissal is 12:30. No school Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for Thanksgiving break. NC Math 1:
This week students will complete Module 2 assessments. Monday students will have the opportunity to finish Module 2 Multiple choice questions. On Tuesday students will work on the performance assessment in class. The classes will also begin Module 3/ Features of Functions. Students will continue to work on evaluating and comparing functions. Math 8: Students will continue to work on analyzing and solving word problems. Later in the week we will work on solving equations with two variables for one of the variables. The test on Unit 5(solving equations) will be on Friday. This week: No school on Friday for Veteran's Day.
Please have students return report card envelopes signed to their homeroom teacher. NC Math 1: We will continue to review and work on using exponential functions to solve problems. We will finish Module 2 this week and students will take the multiple choice assessment for Module 2 on Thursday. Math 8: We will work on solving equations with variables on both sides of the equal sign, as well as determining the number of possible solutions. There will also be a quiz on Modules 2.4-2.6 on Thursday. Math 8: We will continue to work on Multi-step equations. ( Distributive property, combining like terms, eliminating fractions) There will be a quiz on Thursday on solving equations. This will be the final week of the 1st quarter.
NC Math 1 this week will be taking the first Module 2 quiz on functions. We will continue with Module 2 this week continuing to go over functions, writing equations of functions, and evaluating exponential functions. Quiz will be on Tuesday. Math 8: Test on Scientific notation will be on Tuesday. On Wednesday we will begin unit 5 on solving multi-step equations. This will include combining like terms, using the distributive property, and solving equations with fractions as coefficients. Progress reports will go home at the beginning of the week. Remember the first quarter ends 2 weeks from today (Oct. 30).
NC Math 1: This week we will continue on Module 2 studying linear functions, exponential functions, solving equations, determining if a function is continuous or discrete, and how to determine the domain and range of a function. The next quiz on Module 2 will be next Tuesday, October 24th. Math 8: This week we will work on operations with Scientific Notation and applications. We will work on a variety of word problems covering different types of scientific notation problems. The Unit test on this topic will be on Tuesday October 24. Remember this Friday is an early release day. Dismissal is at 12:30. NC Math 1: This week students will take the Module 1 performance assessment on Tuesday which will complete the unit 1 testing.
We will also be introducing Module 2 starting with solving equations. Math 8: This week students will be introduced to Unit 4, Scientific Notation. We will work on how to write numbers and convert numbers from standard form to scientific notation and also how to multiply and divide these numbers. There will be a quiz on Friday on these topics. This week students will be finishing Module 1 on Sequences. We will be reviewing in class Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
Test # 1 will be Thursday with students having time to complete the test on Friday. Math 8: Students will continue to work on exponent rules. This week we will introduce the power rule and division rule. The test on Unit 3 will be given on Friday. Extra help will be offered after school on Tuesday this week. Friday is picture day for all students. |
